Summer is officially here, and for Memorial Day I made a subtly sweet iced tea that was just as beautiful as it was refreshing! This super simple Strawberry-Mango Mint Tea will have you wow’ing your friends and family at the next summer barbecue or pool party. You can make it the morning of for a light and bright beverage, or you can make it the day before for a sweeter, more developed fruity flavor.

Ingredients
6 white tea bags
6 C hot water
1 C each sliced strawberries, diced mango, and freshly torn mint
A few strawberry slices, mango chunks, and mint leaves (for garnish)

adult variation
1/4 C of white rum, tequila, or vodka

Method

Strawberry-Mango Mint Tea Recipe

Boil 6 cups of hot water. Steep the white tea for 20-30 minutes, remove the tea bags, and then allow the tea to cool completely. This will take at least two hours in the refrigerator.

Stir in the strawberries, mango and mint. Allow the tea to set for at least 2 hours, up to 12 hours. The longer it sits before serving, the sweeter and stronger the fruit flavors in the tea become.

Add ice to your jar/pitcher and give it a quick stir before serving. Also, if you’re interested in making this sweet iced tea an adult beverage, simply add 1/4 cup of your favorite rum, tequila or vodka. (Add more if no one is driving!)

    1. That’s a great question. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s a clear answer. I’m not an expert, but I can tell you that green tea leaves and white tea leaves (and black tea leaves, too!) come from the same plant: Camellia sinensis. The varieties of taste and appearance are the product of things like altitude, climate, when the leaves are picked, which part of the plant the leaves come from, how they are processed, etc. White tea leaves are picked much earlier than green and black tea leaves, and they are processed much less; so the flavor is generally subtle and sometimes even slightly sweet. Green tea flavors are a little heartier, varying from bright and grassy to savory and nutty. So, I don’t think using green instead of white tea would necessarily change the flavor a lot, but it could. I hope this helps!
