Paleo Cherry-Watermelon-Kombucha “Jell-O” Shots (Adult and Kid Friendly)

While on Facebook this week, I came across the instructions for making “XXL Watermelon Jell-O Shots” and I would be lying if I didn’t click right on that link (here it is for those of you who are curious). It seemed like a lot of fun, but we weren’t exactly interested in the sugar-laden Jell-O packets. We’d had success previously with gelatin for a Halloween treat, so I decided we should give it a shot.

This was a ridiculously popular treat at the 4th of July paleo potluck we attended. We had fun with the hosts, Paleo Parents, and fellow bloggers The Domestic Man, Predominantly Paleo, and Merit + Fork, among others. We also made our Gurkensalat and used the flesh from the watermelon to make our Watermelon-Mint Salad. You’re going to love making these paleo “Jell-O” shots. They’re probiotic, powerful, and tasty.

Strawberry-Mango Mint Tea

Summer is officially here, and for Memorial Day I made a subtly sweet iced tea that was just as beautiful as it was refreshing! This super simple Strawberry-Mango Mint Tea will have you wow’ing your friends and family at the next summer barbecue or pool party. You can make it the morning of for a light and bright beverage, or you can make it the day before for a sweeter, more developed fruity flavor.

Tangy Halloween Brains

This post is just-in-time for Halloween, but might still be a great addition to any of your fun zombie themed show parties or birthday celebrations as well.  Jello was definitely a favorite thing of mine growing up, but I’m fairly sure the impetus was because of the bright colors and abundance of sugar (the jiggling didn’t hurt, either).  This combination of blood orange juice and apple cider mixes just the right amount of tart and sweet, without any added, concentrated sugar.

We wanted to bring along something fun to the Paleo Parent’s Halloween party, as we had been warned they do not mess around.  The rumors were true, and you can read more about the fun we had with many like-minded foodies, authors, and bloggers.  This brain was a pretty big hit, and we sent home leftovers with a few friends.  We love brains, but even this is a treat we don’t want to overindulge!
